Mission
UP LIterary Society is the academic organization for the University of the Philippines Mindanao’s BA English Major in Creative Writing. Our group aspires to develop and carry out events on a yearly basis that will serve as an extension for our members’ learning as well as deepen the conversation about literature in the Philippines.
Vision
UP Literary Society envisions organizing annually transformative events that broaden our members’ horizons regarding the discourse on Philippine literature. Through these gatherings, we aim to foster a community of lifelong learners and passionate literary advocates, enriching our cultural heritage and inspiring a love for literature across the nation.

VILATANAY 2024
A major event of the degree program held annually, VERSES celebrates music, literature, and the arts through themed performances of local talents and artists aiming to unravel stories for the VILATANAY
Vilatanay is an adaptation from Eve Ensler’s “Vagina Monologues.” Various narratives
are woven together about women—all written by women, directed by women, and performed live for the celebration of women and literature.

BAE WEEK
is a week-long celebration of literature with various activities such as the Community, Reading Pantry, Poetry Writing Contest, and many more, all spearheaded by the students of BA English (Creative Writing) to enliven the love for literature and the arts.
